Magness Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu had 2 representatives at the ADCC West Coast Trials this last month. If you aren’t familiar with it ADCC, it is the pinnacle of Submission Grappling.
Here is a recap from Professor Mike’s social media page!
Yesterday was quite a day for us at ADCC west coast trials.
Sheliah Lindsey had an exciting first round match against a very talented black belt. She scored the victory with a RNC from the back a little over 3 minutes into the match. Quite an accomplishment from Sheliah training just under 5 years with her competitor likely double that.
KL Golson drew a 260 lb former wrestler and college football player with 9 years of BJJ experience. Keontadid an incredible job at following the gameplan perfectly and drawing his opponent into his strengths. Pulling out the victory 2-1 and defending a deep leg entanglement position. Incredible performance for someone training just over 2 years.
Unfortunately a couple of fatal mistakes were made in the second round of the trials, against another pair of extremely qualified opponents. Keonta lost to the 2nd place participate of last ADCC trials, and Sheliah lost an extremely close fight against the eventual 3rd place finisher.
Full of so much joy and pride at all we’ve accomplished so far, but this feels like just the first step in a long lineage of creating extremely skillful grapplers that can perform on the highest stage in the world.
