Jiu-Jitsu gives us an opportunity to face difficult situations in a safe environment

Life itself is constantly presenting us with opportunities to overcome obstacles.
Many times however these obstacles can feel and seem insurmountable.
Those who practice Jiu-Jitsu on a regular basis will find that there are many lessons learned on that mat that translate to approaching life differently.
One of the greatest examples is understanding that panicking in a bad position in Jiu-Jitsu will only make the situation worse. But, if one allows themselves to focus on their breathing and look and or wait for an opportunity to escape, they realize the bad position wasn’t as bad as it appeared. Along with that, they come to the realization afterwards the exact mistake that caused them to arrive the in the perceived bad position in the first place.
This lesson, learned repeatedly in different positions allows a person to not just learn the techniques themselves, but an approach to learning from their mistakes.
Mistakes and Failures are two different things.
Mistakes are made when we choose to learn from our negative experiences.
Failures are when we choose not to learn from our negative experiences.
We are meant to make many mistakes in life, and learn from each and everyone one of them.
Failure is a choice that we may possibly make in not realizing how to effectively deal with a negative situation.
This tiny lesson is one of countless that Jiu-Jitsu allows us to learn in a supervised environment.
If we make the mistakes on the mat, and learn from them, then we can better approach difficult situations in life.
